Turning Things Around

Me: Don’t mind me if I start speaking random gibberish
Cousin: Why? What are you doing?
Me: Investing on my future
Cousin: And how is that suppose to happen?
Me: (Lends the earphones)
Cousin: French?
Me: Oui

What to do when the traveling distance from your house to school is more than 30mins? For the past 2 and a half years that I’ve been car pooling with my cousin to school, all I do is stare outside the window observing unlawful pedestrians crossing the road and MMDAs in EDSA arresting their preys. So I said to myself, why not listen to Pimsleur French Lessons on the way to school? (I’m so brilliant I even amaze myself sometimes) In that way, I can practice what I’ve learned from Mademoiselle Young in French1, and prepare for my career as Philippine representative to the United Nations or as Ambassador to France.

Experience is the name everyone gives to their failures.

Honestly, this whole attraction to careers in international relations was brought by a failure. Well, this might sound arrogant, but I haven’t really a experienced major failure until now. I didn't fail any college entrance test (because I didn't take UPCAT) and I really don't care if they dropped me in Management because I don't like it there anyway.

I was crushed, shattered and pulverized into pink ashes when I learned that i didn't make the cut to be elligible for a junior term abroad. I was targeting a tiny spot for a university in France, but The Fates thought otherwise:(

And out of that "ashen-ed" state sprouted a leaf of hope, which i, in the immortal words of Alexander The Great, will build the empire of my success. chos!

So yeah, I won't be drinking coffe near the Tour Eiffel, or crossing the bridge in London, or eating chocolate frogs in Belgium, or hearing Christmas Eve mass in St Peter's Square, or drinking beer in Munich for the Oktoberfest, or cosplaying in Shibuya / Tokyo, or shopping in Barcelona, or cruising the streets of Venice, or partying in Amsterdam, or diving in the coasts of Greece, or... you get my point, don't you?

I've declared this week my official mourning week. After tomorrow, it's time to move on...
C'est tout!
